Barry Wolfe Race Cancelled
The following inform was provided to the SCNCA by the race promoter:
Dear Racers – We regret to announce the cancellation of this year’s Barry Wolfe Grand Prix. Some of you may have been aware of the road construction that was started on our race course last month. We have spent the last couple of weeks in contact with the city and the water district to determine how the construction would impact our course at the time of the race. The safety of our racers is paramount, and to that end we have decided to cancel this year’s race as the probability of open trenches covered with steel plates and/or rough road patches on course are greater than the 50/50.
We want to thank those of you who pre-registered, we will refund you via USA Cycling registration.
Rest assured that we will be back racing the Barry Wolfe Grand Prix in 2018!
San Luis Rey Race POSTPONED

2016 SCNCA PLANNING MEETING – November 14th!
The SCNCA’s annual planning meeting is set for November 14th from 1:30 to 5 pm at the Anaheim East Community Center (note the venue change from prior years). This meeting is traditionally for Race directors to work out scheduling conflicts for the upcoming race season. This year we would like USA Cycling Licensed members to be represented as well. While anyone is welcome to attend, we only have a seating capacity of 35 persons, so we request that teams send their director / manager or a team representative to voice the opinions of full teams.
The meeting is also open to all who wish to enter their nominations for open Board of Trustee positions with the SCNCA. We will be accepting nominations for all board positions at this meeting. You can also enter your nomination by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are unable to attend the meeting. Elections will occur within the next few months.
The meeting location is as follows:
Anaheim East Community Center

Masters and Elite Category SoCal Cup Awards will be presented after the CBR SoCal Cup Crit Finale on August 30th. SoCal CUP RULE CLARIFICATION:
Riders who possess a valid and current USAC-issued license (not just a USAC account) and list “SCNCA” as their local association on the license, are eligible for awards (payments, medals, jerseys) within the SoCal Cup. This INCLUDES riders who are non-citizens, as long as they possess ONLY a license from USA Cycling and no other foreign federation (possession of concurrent licenses from multiple UCI-aligned cycling federations is forbidden by the UCI)
The following outlines the full 2015 SCNCA State Championship schedule!
Revision to Junior SoCal Cup Calendar
The Boulevard Road Race (January 31) was unable to accommodate Junior fields at this late date. The SCNCA is committed to increasing the availability of Junior Road Racing in the region and is pleased to announce that the UCLA Road Race (February 14) will now have junior fields. This race will replace Boulevard as a Junior SoCal Cup event with 1x point value. Boulevard will remain a SoCal Cup event for NON-Junior fields.
The UCLA road race does conflict with a large event in a neighboring Local Association (Valley of the Sun Stage Race in Arizona). However, despite a similar conflict in 2014 (with an Ontario Crit), Junior attendance at the local event was still quite strong (102 racers). Thus the reason to add it as a SoCal Cup event.
SCNCA Junior Camp Canceled.
Due to conflicts with several of the larger junior teams who had scheduled their private camps for these dates, SCNCA camp enrollment was insufficient to justify it’s expense. The SCNCA regrets that is has had to cancel this useful event. All who enrolled will receive full refunds. The SCNCA is currently investigating options for a junior-specific “Beginning Racer Program” (BRP) early this year. Stay tuned for more information on this.
The Rokform Junior team would like to assist those who enrolled for the weekend camp by hosting a ride on Saturday morning. Ride is FREE and open to all juniors from ALL teams. Near the same location as originally scheduled, but the school lot may be gated, so we’ll meet at the corner of Christianitos and S. El Camino Real. On-street parking on either street or at the Carl’s Jr lot or at the Upper Trestles parking lot (fee). Meet at 8:30 / roll out at 9:00. Great riding through San Onofre State Beach to Camp Pendleton and back. Longer ride to Oceanside for more experienced riders. Parents are welcome to come. Complementary gear checks for newer riders so everyone’s set for the new season!

IMPORTANT NEWS on the 2015 SoCal Cup!
CYCLOCROSS IS HERE!!
NOTICES: Results for ALL SoCal Cup events in 2014 are now posted. Please check SoCal Cup standings and advise of any errors or concerns. We will perform spot audits this week to confirm accuracy before finalizing results next week.
Follow this link to JL Velo and the SCNCA store to order your championship gear
1) Due to our unique location and high concentration of out-of-state* and non-US citizens** who train and race here, the SCNCA will now allow these persons (holding a valid USAC license) to participate in state championship events. For the “Mass-start” events, these riders are not eligible to win the state championship nor any medals, awards or SoCal Cup points. They will not be placed on results. They MAY, however, participate in the race to work with their established teams and gain experience in our very competitive championship events.
For the state ITT and TTT events, these individuals WILL be placed and issued a finishing time, however they will not be eligible to win the state championship nor any medals, awards or SoCal Cup points.
* – Outside of the geographic boundary of the SCNCA
**- Non-citizen or Unknown citizenship, as noted on the USAC license. “Permanent Resident Alien” (green card holders) are eligible for placement, awards and championships, if they reside within the boundary of the SCNCA
2) To be consistent with the way USA Cycling has categorized Juniors for National Championships, the SCNCA is going to adopt the same categories. For all Junior Championships, jerseys and medals will be awarded to men and women 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18 age groups. This will not impact any of the start times for the race.
3) It has been determined that the Ontario “CAT 4/5” races do qualify for SoCal Cup points, but had not been included in SoCal Cup results. These have now been added to the SoCal Cup results and did impact the rank order for the CAT4’s. There are still three races left in the first half season including a 3X point value championship this Sunday. SCNCA apologizes for the late update, but the records are now correct.
We’re pleased to present our refreshed site to you with new content and useful features! Here are some of the enhancements you’ll find:

SCNCA enters into agreement with USAC and USADA. Drug testing is coming to SCNCA races in 2014
Awhile ago, we mentioned that USAC and USADA were developing a program to bring anti-doping testing to local races. The reaction from the local racers was overwhelmingly positive. We are happy to announce that the SCNCA has signed an agreement to join USAC’s “Race Clean” initiative. Using a portion of the SCNCA surcharge that has been collected this year, there will be local testing by USADA this season. They will be at a minimum of two races. USADA determines the races…even the SCNCA will not know when and where they will be testing.
To learn more about the Race Clean program, please follow this link.
